Pitney Bowes Creates Guide for Latina Businesswomen

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 23, 1999--Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE: PBI), sponsored "The 2000 Latina Guide to Small Business," an indispensable resource for anyone who owns or is considering starting a small business. The 100 page, bilingual publication offers tips for starting a business including lists of networking organizations, information on minority vendor programs and inspirational success stories from Latina entrepreneurs.

Pitney Bowes partnered with Hispanic Magazine to produce the guide to offer Latina entrepreneurs valuable business information that also speaks to the unique concerns Latinas face as they start new businesses. The guide gives details on organizations that provide Latinas with business training, loan assistance, and technical assistance. It also illustrates how technology can be used to grow your business. The U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce lent its support to the project by providing a list of local chambers of commerce, a vital business resource.

Michael J. Critelli, President and CEO, Pitney Bowes Inc. said, "The small office/home office sector is one of the most dynamic and fastest growing sectors in the economy and minority and women entrepreneurs are driving this growth. Pitney Bowes understands how to help businesses of all sizes grow their businesses profitably, and that is why we think "The Latina Guide to Small Business" is such a valuable tool. Our sponsorship of the guide is just one of Pitney Bowes' many strategic initiatives to support the minority business community."

Pitney Bowes' history of diversity leadership spans almost six decades. The company has won numerous awards for its diversity initiatives and has been recognized for two consecutive years on the following lists: Fortune Magazine's "America's Best Companies for Minorities"; Working Woman's "Top 25 Public Companies for Executive Women"; and Latina Style's "The 50 Best Companies for Latinas to Work for in the U.S." In 1999, the company won Asian Enterprise Magazine's 1999 Corporate Advocate of the Year award for its outreach to Asian-owned businesses.
