    Business Editors

    STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 21, 1999--

Free Postage Reward Provides Service to Help Electronic, Digital
    and Internet Mailers

Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE:PBI), today announced the PitneyWorks Reserve Account, an innovative new financial service which helps mailers -- small to large -- improve their cash flow management.

The PitneyWorks Reserve Account allows customers to earn free postage by putting their advanced postage deposits to work for them. The free postage that customers earn is based on their average daily account balance in their Pitney Works Reserve Account. Pitney Bowes is the only company to provide this innovative service, which was developed through extensive market research. The offer is currently available with a variety of Pitney Bowes products and will also be available for ClickStamp(TM) Plus, a PC-based product, and ClickStamp(TM) Online, a Web-based offering, currently in beta testing with the U.S. Postal Service.

"Our research shows that Internet, digital and electronic postage users really like the idea of earning free postage, just like they earn interest on their money in the bank," said Elise DeBois, Vice President of Marketing for Pitney Bowes Credit Corporation. "The PitneyWorks Reserve Account provides our current and future customers with a hassle-free, money-making benefit to prepaying postage. We are the only mailing provider worldwide to offer this new financial service."
